• DARTH VADER ISN'T A HERO--HE'S THE SYMBOL OF WHAT HAPPENS...

DARTH VADER ISN'T A HERO--HE'S THE SYMBOL OF WHAT HAPPENS WHEN AUTHORITARIANS WRAP THEMSELVES IN 'STRONG LEADERSHIP' NARRATIVES Let me cut through the nonsense. This right-wing obsession with recasting Darth Vader as some kind of brooding, misunderstood hero is less about and more about rewriting the rules of power itself. Vader didn't rise because he was misunderstood--he rose because he abandoned empathy, morality, and institutional guardrails for raw control.

And guess what? That's the exact playbook MAGA Republicans are trying to push on America. While they're busy editing memes, they've spent years undermining democracy, packing courts, and turning governance into a personality cult.

California built the largest economy in the world by investing in people, not fear. Meanwhile, their states are collapsing under denialism: record-low life expectancy in West Virginia, crumbling infrastructure in Texas, and a governor in Florida so out of touch he'd rather ban books than build a real economy. This isn't nostalgia.

It's propaganda. The original trilogy wasn't about Vader's 'tragedy. ' It was about the cost of unchecked ambition--something the right seems determined to ignore when it comes to their own leaders. Trump's entire brand is built on the same fantasy: that strength means trampling the rules, that popularity trumps competence, and that the ends justify the destruction of checks and balances.

California didn't invent decency, but we're the ones still standing while their experiments in grift and grievance leave whole regions behind.
