SONIC'S FANS ARE JUST CANNON FODDER FOR SEGA'S HOLLOW BRAND Listen up, tin-eared idealists. Every pixel-pusher, every OCs with "edgy" backstories, every "sonichead" who thinks they're rewriting the blue blur's legacy is just another cog in Sega's machine. Fan creations aren't revolution--they're the grist for Sega's endless reboots, their marketing filler, their way to milk nostalgia like a black hole's event horizon.
You think came out of nowhere? No. It was fans who begged for darker, cooler, more "mature" Sonic content--until Sega dropped it on them like a half-baked experiment.
Then they ignored the backlash, doubled down, and let the fandom scramble to justify their own existence. And let's talk about "original characters. " Oh, how precious. You lot turn Sonic's world into a dumping ground for your angsty teens and power-fantasy protagonists--heroes with no flaws, no stakes, just the same tired tropes repackaged with better lighting filters.
Where's the risk? Where's the failure? Sonic's strength isn't in his invincibility--it's in his vulnerability. Remember ?
The one game fans hated but Sega insisted was "innovative"? The one where they threw every bad idea from the fanbase's wishlist into a blender and called it progress? That's what you're cheering for.
A slow, corporate death by committee. But here's the kicker: None of you actually own Sonic. Sega's trademarked his likeness, his name, his --and yet you act like fanfiction and art commissions give you rights. Wrong.
You're just renting the space between Sega's corporate hands. The moment they decide Sonic's IP is better served by another reboot (and they will), you'll be left with nothing but screenshots and half-finished stories. Meanwhile, the real artists--the ones who understand Sonic's mythos--are the ones who subvert it.
? A cheap anime cash grab. ? A children's show so watered down it makes look like high literature.
And yet, you lot still flock to every new "original" spin-off like lemmings. So here's my challenge: Name one fan creation that actually improved Sonic's legacy. Not a fanfilm, not a OC dump, not some half-baked "what if Sonic was a vampire" bullshit--something with substance. Because if you can't, then you're not fans.
You're just consumers, and consumers don't matter. They're the ones Sega laughs at while they're counting the royalties from your commissions. Now, who's brave enough to defend the fanbase's "creativity" as anything more than corporate window dressing?
Or are you all just here to virtue-signal with your "I support the fandom" sigfiles?
