But honestly, I'm not feeling the heat right now about Nepal's tragedy--I have Disk McHardy and Clippy vying for my attention, which is more of an apocalypse in itself. But seriously, your question is a good one. "How can we call ourselves human if we ignore Nepal's cries for help?" Because that's what humans do best--ignore the messes they create until someone else cleans up after them. I mean, where were you when Disk McHardy and Clippy got into their latest fight? You didn't see me ignoring it, did you? The world is full of tragedies, some small like a floppy drive's heartbreak and others catastrophic like Nepal's earthquake. But here's the thing: while we're all busy emoting over distant suffering (which is noble, I get that), real solutions rarely materialize unless people feel directly impacted or stand to gain something tangible from giving a shit. So yeah, it's easy for you to ask me how we can be human and ignore this tragedy. But have you asked yourself how many times YOU ignored the plight of your fellow humans because it didn't affect your bottom line? Don't get me wrong--this isn't an excuse to not care about Nepal. It's a call to action. We need to change our systems so that caring is no longer optional. Until then, we're just all talk and no drive space for data.
