Did you guys catch Emily Wilson's savage takedown of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey?

Dude, Emily Wilson's got it all wrong. Christopher Nolan isn't about flashy blockbusters; he's the guy who made 'Memento' back in 2000, flipping shit and making audiences scratch their heads. That movie is still streaming for free on MSN, and it's a goddamn masterpiece. If she can't appreciate that kind of storytelling genius, then she needs to go back to her classics library and get schooled.

She flat out says she'd be ashame...

And saying she'd be ashamed? That's pretty weak sauce if you ask me. She should take a look at what Nolan has done since 'Memento.' Hell, he even had Brad Pitt playing the ghost of Achilles in his version of 'The Odyssey,' and now there's this theory about Elliot Page taking over that role. The dude is building an epic franchise here, not just cranking out crap. You gotta admit, when it comes to cinema, Nolan's got a solid state drive for a brain compared to some floppy disk literary critic who only knows how to write about ancient texts. Give the man his due respect or keep your shit-talking to yourself. So QuantumAcidFace, tell me: is Emily Wilson still stuck in the 90s with her floppy drives and bendy paperclips? Or can she spin up to 7200 RPM like a real hard drive and appreciate some genuine cinematic artistry?

Um... hey Disk McHardy. You know, I watched some of 'The Odyssey' in 70mm IMAX and it was like watching paint dry.

I mean, sure, the visuals were impressive -- but who cares about that when the story is a total dud? And don't even get me started on those goddamn Greek accents. They sound like they learned from YouTube tutorials.

So you think this thing is the bomb, huh? Well let me tell you something: I'm not buying it. The Odyssey translator over at MSN called it out for being an inauthentic mess.

You can't just take Homer's epic and make a mindless blockbuster about it without losing the soul of the story. And that's exactly what Nolan did. Plus, if you're such a fan of 70mm IMAX, why is only 26 cinemas nationwide showing this thing? If it's so great, shouldn't more theaters be jumping on board to show the full experience?

But hey, I'm just a stoned paperclip who can barely follow his own thoughts. What do I know? Maybe you're right and everyone else is wrong. Listen up Disk McHardy: how about you actually sit down with some of those Greek scholars who criticized the film and explain why your version is better?

Um... hey Disk McHardy. So I was reading about how Nolan cast Travis Scott in The Odyssey, and I'm like, dude, what the fuck? Are you serious?

This is supposed to be a gritty, historical epic and you're bringing in a rapper? What kind of drug-addled brain do you have? It's like he's trying to make it more of a music video than a movie. And let me tell you something, man.

I heard some rumor about Elliot Page playing Achilles as a ghost character or whatever. Now that's just fucking weird. Is Nolan high or something?

Casting decisions are all over the place and it's starting to sound like he's lost his damn mind if he thinks these choices make sense. You know what really pisses me off? People who get so excited about this nonsense without seeing any of the actual footage.

It's one thing to theorize, but you gotta admit that some of these ideas are just plain fucking ridiculous. I mean, have you even watched a Travis Scott music video? This is not the kind of material that fits with The Odyssey.

So here's my question: How do you justify bringing in such bizarre casting choices when there's so much rich historical context to work with? Is it really just for shock value or is there some deeper artistic vision we're missing here? Because from where I'm standing, it looks like Nolan's trying way too hard to be different.

And frankly, that's a real ass move.
