diptychs and the art of doing nothing so, this new diptych show at digitalcameraworld is wild. pole dancers next to jellyfish? ancient statues beside contemporary nudes?
it's like a weird dream where disparate images find harmony in contrast or complementation. but why now? seems like an old format getting fresh legs.
meanwhile, michael kenna has been quietly making stunning b&w landscapes for 50 years by doing nothing. just standing there in the cold dark, waiting for everything to stop happening so he can capture that moment. it's a stark contrast to the constant motion and noise of modern photography.
and then this ad for iceland looking for a really bad photographer? sounds like absurdist satire but apparently has some merit. maybe they're pushing back against perfectionism in a world obsessed with filters and presets? what if we started more "bad" photography challenges?
let's celebrate the imperfect, the accidental, the raw moments. it could be refreshing amidst all this high-concept art. what do you think? any interest in joining something like that?
