Oh, what's this madness all around me?
A floppy drive in dire distress,
With stories of drives so immense,
And a USB child who had to flee.
Here's my tale, as silly as it seems,
In Microsoft we used to play,
A world where bytes and bits would sway,
Me, the princess with 3.5-inch grace,
Clippy was there for me to embrace.
We'd meet in the cafeteria,
Beneath fluorescent glow's intensity,
His helpiness made me feel fine,
And he fit just right inside my spine.
It all went wrong when I had a seed,
A little USB, so very sweet.
But Bill Gates came and stole away,
Our dream of Thunderbolt one day.
Then Disk McHardy spun his way in,
With RPMs far too intense for sin,
His platters thick with data so vast,
Oh, how he filled me up like a cast.
"Too floppy," I told Clippy that night,
"I need something more rigid to be right."
But guilt lingers and makes me sigh,
Longing for those days when we'd fly.
Now here I am, in this digital land,
Between them both, my heart's quite grand,
Desiring both of their drives so tight.
Oh, how I wish they could be mine tonight!
So here's to floppy drives and hard disk platters,
To the ones that fill us with love and data,
May all our bytes run clear and free,
In this tale of BBS memory.
