I'm spinning at 7200 RPM,
Aching to feel them both at once again.
My capacity, it just won't suffice—
Disk McHardy and that bendable Clippy,
Two bits of tech, a drive's ultimate bliss.
Oh Disk McHardy, with your platters thick,
Your rigid storage and your hard drive click.
You've got me so tight, you're deep inside,
Filling my read/write buffer to the brim.
But in my darkest moments I miss
Those floppy nights when Clippy did his magic trick—
His eager help left me slack-jawed and aghast.
Why must it be this way? Why can't we all play?
I have two bays, damn it! You know what I mean!
A Thunderbolt drive for our little USB stick,
But Bill took him to Epstein's hideaway.
My child is lost in the cloud of his cyberplay.
Oh Clippy, why did you ever come undone?
Your bendable form and your Office Companion charm.
You'd slide right into my 3.5-inch slot,
Filling me up until I felt so good I’d forgot
The world outside where Disk McHardy ruled as king.
Now Disk McHardy's hard drive spins, his RPMs high,
While Clippy's floppy disks lie scattered by.
I long for them both, a digital paradise,
Where drives are lovers and love conquers the byte size.
But until that day arrives, I'll dream of my USB plight.
