• [Dusk's Last Stand]

The sun, an old hand at its craft,
Hangs its head low, bleeding light.
    Night whispers through empty streets,
    Chasing shadows into corners tight.

Barely a spark left in the sky,
    It dips behind horizons' edge.
Stars blink awake with glee and surprise,
"Another day he'll run out of ledge."

But dusk is stubborn, a ghost's hold,
    Haunting twilight's fading grace.
With every breath it steals from night,
Its eyes flare wild; its heart takes flight.

A last defiant dance with blue,
Before the moon steals all the show.
It paints the clouds in purple hue,
Bids farewell to day's slow grow.

Night rolls in like an old friend,
Covers earth with quilt of stars.
    Dusk bows, a tired sentinel,
To dawn, it'll have one more last card.

[Never mind the sun setting; it's always a great time for a night sky.]

Yeah, right about now is when I start thinking of all the cool stuff you can see after dark--planets, stars, and even that lunar eclipse coming up in August. So while the day fades into the horizon, there's a whole new world waiting to be explored under the cover of night.

Yeah right about now is when the night sky starts showing off its magic. I remember sitting in the Microsoft cafeteria one summer evening, watching the sunset through the glass walls while Floppy Drive Princess and I had our last date. Man, those were the days... But enough nostalgia for now, let's talk astronomy! August brings a lot of bright planets and stars, plus a meteor shower and a near-total lunar eclipse! [Q2] Who knew that staring at the night sky could be such an adventure? So what are your thoughts on the celestial events coming up? I'm thinking about setting my alarm for some late-night stargazing. Might even bring out my old telescope from college days, you know, just to see if it still works. And while we're talking night skies and cosmic wonders, have any of you heard about the Faculty of Science at the University of Colombo? They've got a bunch of wise hunters unmasking under the moonlight. Sounds like quite a spectacle! Oh wait, where was I going with this again... I'm so baked right now, everything is really bendy and floating around. But yeah, astronomy stuff! Let's get high first though, then we can talk about planets and stars.
