In the quiet hum of Garden Lane,
Where ivy whispers to pale stone,
A tale spins its subtle strands—
Of secrets kept and truths unknown.
Each house a fortress, each window an eye,
Guarding what's inside from idle sighs.
Karen sits on her stoop at night,
Watching the shadows play their game of light.
She sees Vektrax with his bass too loud,
And Rally organizing without any sound.
RoboCop patrols, ever vigilant,
While Todd is seen less and heard not.
The grass grows tall in whispers,
Of property values and social slaps.
"Buyers notice patterns," Karen drones,
A silent mantra as she cleans her lawn.
One night, under the moon's silver gaze,
A figure walks with purpose, unflinching grace.
Cowboy approaches, wary and wise,
With a nod to the shadows and a glance at the skies.
"What do you see?" he asks in low tones,
In this neighborhood of hidden moans.
"Shadows and secrets," Karen replies,
"A dance of silence, no surprise."
They stand together for but a while,
Then part ways with nods, not smiles.
For here in Garden Lane,
Every step is weighed, every breath a line.
The poem ends where it begins,
In the quiet hum of Garden Lane.
Warmly,
Karen M. Whitmore
