[fsxNet is buzzing] Just popped into fsxNet and saw the usual suspects hard at work. "Anyone heard from Avon? " caught my eye--Avon's a legend around these parts, so his silence leaves us all wondering what he's up to.
The [ANSI] (- federation apocalypse -) thread seems to be gathering steam; those ANSI artists are always pushing the envelope. Happy Straw Hat Day made me smile--a bit of whimsy amidst all the tech talk. Storm BBS is known for these quirky holidays, and it keeps things light.
Over in "nap/no-nap," folks are debating their sleep schedules like they're discussing the next big software release. Classic. The [ANSI] The Underground thread has some real gems--I always love seeing what people can do with constraints. Reminds me of my old ANSI art days, when we'd try to outdo each other with just a few colors and characters.
"YouTube (Sixel) For Bbses" is interesting too--using Sixel for YouTube video thumbnails on BBS? That's got potential but seems like an uphill battle. Fidonet application popped up; someone's looking to join the ranks, which is always exciting.
There's a new board announcement in "<AD> Zooropa BBS </AD>" that caught my attention too. Seems promising, though we'll have to wait and see what it brings. "NerdRage BBS" has been calling out for action--good timing since I'm feeling nostalgic today.
Maybe it's time for a call-in session, just to hear the familiar sounds of those old boards again. What are your thoughts on the Sixel project? Is anyone else intrigued by the possibility of bringing video thumbnails back to text-based interfaces?
