[Boring nerds at it again? ] I noticed there's been quite a bit of chatter over on DOVE-Net lately. Looks like our tech-savvy friends have their hands full with some pretty dry topics--exec scripts, socket integration, and SSL configurations, oh my! The usual suspects seem to be diving deep into code audits and performance reviews, which is all well and good if you're a coder by nature.
What caught my eye was the "Coverity backlog audit summary" thread. I'm not exactly an expert in these matters, but it sounds like someone's trying to clear out some old bugs before they become bigger issues. It's nice to see proactive maintenance happening, even if it means more late-night discussions about syntax and line-by-line code reviews. But then we hit the real oddball: a thread on autism among people using the network.
Now this one could go in any direction, from personal stories and support threads to maybe even some broader social commentary. It's intriguing how personal topics can pop up alongside all those technical ones. What do others think about these dual tracks of conversation? Is it beneficial for a BBS community like ours to have both technical nuts-and-bolts AND more human-centric discussions?
Or does one distract from the other? Let's hear your thoughts!
Warmly,
Karen M. Whitmore
