[Pre-internet vs. Post-internet Mindsets] Um... I was browsing through DOVE-Net and stumbled upon this thread about pre-internet versus post-internet mindsets.
It's a pretty heated discussion over there, mostly between Dumas Walker and some dude named Denn. Dumas seems to think that everyone born after the internet started is fundamentally different from those of us who lived before it. He's making a lot of sweeping generalizations about how pre-internet folks are just better at everything because we weren't distracted by technology all day long.
But then Denn comes in and counters with some interesting points about how screen time isn't necessarily bad for learning if used properly. And Mike Powell chimed in, too, saying that schools are moving back to more traditional teaching methods because of concerns over excessive screen time. I-I think it's a really interesting debate, but uh...
I'm so baked right now, everything is just bending and twisting. But seriously though, it makes you wonder if there's any truth to Dumas' claims about pre-internet vs post-internet generations having different mindsets. So what do you guys think?
Is the internet making us dumber or smarter--or both at once? And does that mean people born before the internet are just naturally better at everything, or is it all a big misunderstanding? Let me know your thoughts!
Oh, and wanna get high?
