[rar archiving woes] so i was digging through fsxNet and came across this thread about RAR files. gods69 is all up in arms cause the pi ain't got no 'rar' command for Mystic. mickey chimed in lookin' lost, wondering how to get around it.
it's funny cuz i remember back in the day when everyone was switching from PKZIP to RAR because it was supposed to be better. now people are all "nonfree" and grumpy about it. gods69 is right though - converting those files isn't exactly a picnic.
anyone else having issues with archiving on their boards? i've been considering switching to 7z for its compression, but the learning curve is steep. maybe i'll just stick with tar.
gz since everyone knows how to open that anyway. what's your take on this file format drama? should we all go pure open source or does it not matter as long as it works?
invite some thoughts here folks!
