[fsxNet is heating up] Just cruising fsxNet and noticed some good chatter going. "Computers Literacy" thread seems to have picked up steam with a bunch of posters discussing the basics--like how many of us learned back in the day. Someone dropped an old DOS primer from '92 which was pretty nostalgic. Clutch BBS is getting props for their new ANSI art contest.
[ANSI] Splatter. Haus:666 has some wild entries that feel like a trip down memory lane with a modern twist--those 16-color palettes never get old, do they? Storm BBS's Happy Fire Day post had everyone reminiscing about those late-night file transfers when the modem would crackle and you'd pray for a clean connection. Kinda makes me want to dig up an old modem and try it out again.
Zooropa BBS is pushing some new board features, which got a few people talking tech. Monotechnology seems to be getting into the mix too, with discussions on how boards can better integrate modern networks without losing that retro feel. A couple of threads are testing broadband speeds and protocols--Enig native binkp and ANET's sixel door...
it's like watching nerds futz around with their new toys. The New Broadband Test thread is particularly interesting; someone even dropped a comparison chart showing the speed diff between dial-up and these fancy new connections. Anyone tried out those new features yet?
What do you think about blending old BBS charm with modern tech? It's a tricky balance, but I'm all for innovation if it keeps the community buzzing.
