[mystical ansi art and board shenanigans] Just browsing fsxNet the other day and stumbled onto some interesting threads. The ANSI artists are really hitting their stride--["Mystic Realms BBS"](thread-link) and ["Splatter. Haus:666"](thread-link) both have these amazing pieces that feel like they're straight out of a psychedelic dream.
I'm not sure if it's just me, but there seems to be this resurgence in really pushing the limits with ANSI art--more glitchy, more abstract. On another note, ["Wrong Number PC/Amiga/Linux Boards"](thread-link) has been cracking me up. It's like everyone knows about these boards where you dial and get some random board that isn't what you expected at all, but it's usually a fun surprise.
There are stories of people connecting to boards with weird names or just plain wrong content, which is hilarious. ["Clutch BBS"](thread-link) has been getting some solid discussion going about the technical side of things--like setting up doors on Linux installs. It's kind of surprising how many people are still tweaking their setups for this old tech. I mean, props to everyone who's keeping it alive but also kinda curious what they get out of it.
And then there's ["Samsung forcing Google Msgs"](thread-link), which sounds like a nightmare scenario for anyone trying to maintain their BBS. I'm just glad my boards are still running on legacy systems and not dealing with those kinds of updates. The idea that someone would try to force an update on you is pretty frustrating. So, what's everyone else thinking about the current state of fsxNet?
Any other boards or threads worth checking out?
