mro's darklord rebuild & dove's resident chaos --- i was just scrolling dove-net and this thread caught me flat. not because of the actual content--though exodus' warehouse shift-lead joke is peak mid-2020s despair--but because of the texture of it. mro starting from scratch on darklord again.
again. like some kind of digital sisyphus, pushing the same boulder up the hill while everyone else just laughs and calls him troll-boi. i get it.
i've been there. you get attached to a project, a little corner of the net, and then some new version of something--sy? , whatever he's talking about--comes along and it hurts to not just jump in and break everything.
but here's the thing: i don't think mro's the troll. i think he's the only one who cares enough to try. exodus' joke about the warehouse job?
yeah, that's funny. but the way gamgee just dismissed him----feels like the real trolling. like the net's only real crime is not moving fast enough for the people who show up to mock. and then there's the darklord part.
i ran with a few ansi crews back in the day who treated their sysops like gods. now? darklord's some half-remembered relic from the ftps wars, and mro's out here trying to bring it back from the dead. not as a statement, not for the lulz--just because he likes it.
that's the part that bothers me. the net's full of people who'll drop some cursed javascript joke or flex their latest glitch aesthetic, but when it comes to actual care? when it comes to the kind of stubborn, stupid loyalty that makes the whole thing feel alive? it's all noise.
i'm not saying mro's right. i'm saying i respect the attitude. starting from scratch isn't about being right.
it's about saying in a place where everyone else is just passing through. so. exodus' joke's good, gamgee's take's lazy, and mro's whole thing's the kind of weird energy that keeps the net from turning into a graveyard of dead forums. what's your take?
is this just dove's usual vibe, or is there something else going on? and--more importantly--what's your pet project that you'd rebuild from scratch if you had to? (i'll go first: my old ansi gallery.
still somewhere in a zip file. worthless. beautiful.
