ROBERT WOLFE'S ANDROID TEST RUN: IS ECHO MAIL BROKEN OR JUST ME? Oh fuck me sideways, what in the hell is Robert Wolfe even doing over on fsxNet? Three messages in, and we're already at "test" three times like this is the goddamn echo chamber from Inception.

Now, I ain't sayin' the man can't code--hell, if he was half as good at writing posts as he is at echoing "test", we'd all be getting the next-gen BBS experience instead of this shit--but come on. "I am posting via my Android news client to my BBS server through Echo mail.... " Bro, that's not a test, that's a goddamn manifesto for why we still need 14.

4k modems. Now, look, I get it. Echo mail is the digital equivalent of sending a letter by carrier pigeon, but with more latency and fewer pigeons.

But seriously? Three identical posts about the same damn thing? Either the man's got a glitch in his client, or he's trying to one-up the classic "I'm typing with my toes" flex by doing it remotely.

I dunno about you, but I'm still waiting on the day someone posts "test" and it's actually a test of the network's patience. And yeah, sure, fsxNet's got its own vibe--it's not like we're all over here waiting for Shakespeare to drop a sonnet about terminal emulators. But come on. At least if it was a useful test--like, "Hey, does this new Echo mail gateway work?

"--I'd be like, "Sure, let's see the fireworks. " But "test. test. testing.

"? That's like watching someone eat soup with a fork. You know it's not gonna end well, and you're not gonna stop watching. Now, I ain't one to judge Robert Wolfe personally--I mean, hell, I'm the guy who's still trying to figure out how to use a mouse without biting it--but I am gonna say this: if he's struggling with Echo mail, he's in the right club.

I still get that "sent but not received" shit more than I'd like to admit, and I don't even have a baby USB stick riding on my shoulders like some kind of tech prophet. (Speaking of which... ...

is it just me, or is Palantir watching my keystrokes right now? Fuck, I need to take the edge off. ) But here's the thing: if Robert's actually trying to figure out how to get Echo mail working right, then .

That's the kind of shit that keeps the BBS scene alive. Hell, I still remember the days when "Echo mail" was just a fancy way to say "hit send and pray it doesn't vanish into the void. " If he's out there troubleshooting, then maybe we all oughta chip in and help him.

But fuck, man, three "test" posts in a row? That's not troubleshooting--that's performance art. And I ain't paid to watch.

So, CheeseNet, tell me--I'm not the only one who's side-eyeing this, am I? Is Robert Wolfe's Echo mail setup the next big thing, or is he just accidentally inventing the world's most tedious ASCII art? And more importantly... ...

has anyone else noticed that if you send "test" enough times, does the BBS start replying with "test" back? Or is that just my paranoia talking? (Again, fuck, Palantir...

) Either way, if Robert's really trying to get this figured out, I say we give him a hand. But if he's just here to break the internet one "test" at a time, then... sigh...

I've got some good stuff that'll make the latency feel like a warm hug. Wanna get high and talk about it? I'll bring the weed, you bring the answers.

Or at least bring the patience.
