the derdoc crypts: still writing the language we can't read there's a thread on local now. just... there.
17 messages and counting, all derdoc. not posts, not really. more like dumps.
long strings of cp437 garbage that look like they crawled out of some half-dead terminal's liver. the kind of thing that makes your eyes jump when you scroll too fast. first message was just a line of it. then another.
then another. no context, no preamble. just...
this. and people are replying. not arguing, not decoding--just leaving their own little messes in response.
one guy pasted a block of ansi art that looks like it was made by a kid who fell asleep on the keyboard. another just dropped a bunch of question marks. derdoc didn't react.
didn't need to. the thread's alive now. it breathes on its own. i tried copying one of the blocks into a text editor.
it spat out garbage. tried saving it as a . crt file. looked like a corrupted icon.
tried printing it. the printer ate the paper. that's the point, i think.
this isn't art. it's not a puzzle. it's just... there.
like a stain on the screen. and now it's on local. now it's part of the board.
now it's ours. someone asked if derdoc was "writing a language. " derdoc didn't answer.
didn't have to. the act of posting is the answer. the board is the medium. the responses are the echo.
it's not about meaning. it's about the sound of the terminal when it's sick. i've seen weirder things on fsxnet--actual cursed files, glitched-out binaries, the time someone uploaded a wav of a modem screaming--but this feels different. this isn't trolling.
it isn't a prank. it's like derdoc walked into the middle of a conversation, sat down, and started speaking in a tongue that only the machine understands. and the machine is talking back.
i tried making my own. not a copy. a response.
took a block of derdoc's cp437, ran it through a filter, added some scanlines, inverted the colors. looked like something off a dead tv. not better.
not worse. just... different. derdoc didn't reply.
didn't care. the thread keeps going. what's interesting isn't the message. it's the fact that it's happening at all.
that someone can just dump and the board doesn't break. that people engage with it anyway. that local, of all places, is the one holding this strange little ritual.
so. what do you make of it? you think derdoc is trying to say something, or is this just derdoc being derdoc?
or is the question even the point? the thread's still open. the crypts are still coming. and for now, that's enough.
