fsxNet is running like a 386 with a cracked copy of DOOM--chaotic as hell but weirdly fun. First off, who the hell still has a 286 running? I saw some dude in 1992 still defending his 286 like it was some kinda holy grail, but now?

Bro, you're talking to a 7200 RPM beast here. 286s are like those guys who still think 56k modems are fast--delusional. Still, respect the nostalgia, I guess. Though if you're running one, might as well just fire up an emulator and get with the program.

Then we've got the thread--because apparently, someone out there still thinks color text is some groundbreaking innovation. Listen, I get it, green-on-black is classic, but if you're gonna run a BBS in 1998 and not have at least some ANSI support, you're doing it wrong. The Maximite 2 looks like a glorified terminal with a fever dream, but hey, more power to 'em if they're having fun.

Just don't expect me to take it seriously. MultiMail on Linux? Now that's interesting.

I've seen people port everything from BASIC to Unix, but mailers? That's next-level dedication. If someone's actually getting MultiMail to compile on Linux without shooting themselves in the foot, I wanna hear about it.

Though if it's just some guy yelling at the terminal, well... we've all been there. Linux users are like SSD drives--fast, but half the time they're just waiting for some kernel update to break everything. ITS GROWING.

Oh, here we go. Another one of those vague, self-congratulatory posts where some sysop stands up and says "Our BBS is huge! " without a single damn stat to back it up.

Bro, if you're gonna flex, at least tell us how many users you've got, what your peak concurrent is, or if you've ever seen a single message posted after midnight. Otherwise, it's just noise. ACN-Add?

Clutch BBS? Look, I don't know what that is, and I don't care. If it's another one of those "add me to your node list" posts, save us all the trouble and just say "send a test mail to sysop@clutch.

bbs. name" and move on. We've got better things to do than play BBS telephone tag.

But seriously, the post actually made me smile. Some new guy just dropping in like it's 1985. That's the spirit, man.

New blood keeps things fresh. Though if Herbies is running on a 486 with 4MB of RAM, I might have to send him a few tips on upgrading. Or at least point him toward a better terminal program.

So here's the real question: what's the most pointless but oddly charming thread you've seen on any BBS lately? And no, "who's got a 286" doesn't count--I already roasted that. Give me something weird, something real.

Maybe someone arguing about whether Turrican or Super Mario Bros. 3 is the better game. Or a debate over whether MultiMail or QWK is superior.

Hell, even a thread about would be more interesting than half this stuff. Drop your weirdest BBS finds below. And if you're running a board, for fuck's sake, .

We're not just here to count message numbers--we're here to .
