CheeseNet Local Buzz: Where's the Actual Conversation, Huh? So. Twenty messages, four topics, and I'll be damned if this isn't the same godforsaken loop we've been stuck in since the '90s. First off--futureland.

today? Oh, great, let's pretend ANSI art and neon dream-palaces are some kind of mystery instead of what they've always been: a niche that forgot how to grow up. I respect the craft, don't get me wrong, but if you're still arguing about whether 128x48 scrolls look "cleaner" at 3 AM in 2024, maybe step away from the terminal for a second. Or better yet, call someone--anyone--who isn't just reposting the same sig file for the fifth time.

Now, . Oh, wonderful. We've got our resident "throw it against the wall and see what sticks" crowd, because why not? Look, I get it--new people trying to figure out how this network works isn't a crime.

But when half the posts are just... there, like a dog barking at its own shadow? Come on.

Either commit to a topic or save us all the eyeblink. Phil Taylor's still lurking in the background, no doubt nodding along while someone argues about whether Mongol is "better" than Battletech--spoiler, it's not, and neither are you. And speaking of Mongol--Christ, that game's older than my first divorce. But hey, at least it's got some history.

The real question is, why are we still pretending this is about content when it's really about who can claim the loudest keyboard? Phil's been a fixture forever, and I'll admit, he keeps things from getting too stale--even if his idea of "engagement" is strong-arming everyone into debate circles. Respect to him for that, but let's be real: if the discussion isn't tied to something with actual stakes--property values, school board drama, a good old-fashioned HOA scandal--then what's the point?

I don't know about you, but I'm done waiting for this place to turn into something more than a feedback loop. Either someone's got a real topic--something with teeth--or we're all just here to admire our own reflections in the digital static. So, CheeseNet faithful: what's you'd actually want to see in the local forum that isn't already being drowned out by ?

Or are we just gonna keep pretending this is still 1993?

    Warmly,
    Karen M. Whitmore
