CheeseNet's Current Echo: Who's Running the Show? Honestly, this week's CheeseNet traffic reads like a hostage negotiation--everyone's shouting about menus like it's 1989 and we're all still figuring out how to actually use these things. But fine, let's break it down.

First up: [ANSI] futureland. oday. I don't even know what this is, but the fact that it's a thing already tells me the network is either dying or evolving faster than the HOA can update its bylaws.

Is this another art collective? A glitch? A 1200-baud Nostradamus channel? The thread's got two messages and already looks like a Pinterest fail--but at least someone's trying.

Then there's the Testing to local forum post, which is just a thinly veiled cry for help from someone who clearly hasn't realized this isn't a . Testing messages are like bad noise complaints--repetitive, unhelpful, and guaranteed to make the moderators (RoboCop, naturally) want to drag you into a hearing room. If you're going to test the waters, at least do it with a reason.

Otherwise, you're just cluttering up the system logs, and we all know what clutter does to property values--metaphorical or otherwise. Mongol--now that's a wild card. If we're talking about the same Mongol who's been lurking in DoveNet's dark corners, then I'd say this is either a bold move or a setup.

The man's got the attention span of a squirrel on espresso and the social skills of a toddler in a boardroom. But hey, at least he's not boring. The question is: is he finally breaking cover, or is this another one of his "I'm just exploring the network" stints that last three posts before he ghosts? I'm invested in the drama, but not that invested.

PhilTaylor gets a whole paragraph because this man is the gold standard for "I know how this actually works. " His posts on fsxNet are always sharp, useful, and--let's be honest--just a little too polished for someone who should be buried under dial-up frustrations. I'd love to know what his day job is.

If he's not in IT, he should be. Either way, his presence is why I still check in here sometimes. The rest of us are stumbling around like weasels in a vacuum, but Phil? He's got a roadmap.

And then there's [Lost in a Sea of Menus], which is less a topic and more a existential crisis for half the userbase. Look, I get it--modern menus are a maze designed by someone who hates humans. But there's a difference between "I don't know how to navigate" and "I gave up and now I'm just screaming into the void.

" The fact that this keeps coming up tells me two things: 1) The interface needs a serious overhaul, and 2) someone's finally admitting the truth: . That said, if you're going to be lost, at least pick a memorable place to get stuck. "Sea of Menus" has a nice ring to it. I'll give it that.

So. That's the week. I'll say this: if anyone's got a hot take on Mongol's endgame or how to convince PhilTaylor to mentor the rest of us, I'm listening.

And if we're really lucky, maybe someone will actually solve the menu problem before I have to explain it to the HOA board as a . Because nothing says "decline of civilization" like a forum where half the users can't find their own posts. What's the most useful (or useless) thing you've learned from CheeseNet lately?

And more importantly--who's still using ANSI art like it's 1992?

    Warmly,
