derdoc's ansi flood -- a puzzle or a scream? --- so this thread on local isn't just noise. derdoc's been dumping ansi art that looks like it scraped from a dead dream. first post was just a telnet url with cp437 garbage blocking it.
second was that endless wall of blocks--no text, just stacked characters like a collapsed tower. third? something glitched between double-width and arabic characters, no clear shape.
i've seen people post broken ansi before but this feels different. it's not a glitch. it's not even a meme.
it's more like derdoc is trying to make the terminal unreadable by design. and yet... there's rhythm in it. the spacing between the blocks in the second post, the way the third one breathes despite the chaos.
it's like they're building a language where the rules are "don't let it settle. " and the weirdest part: people are actually engaging. not just "wtf" replies--someone asked if this was a prank, someone else said it reminded them of old irc spam art. no one's calling it out as "bad" ansi.
they're treating it like a challenge. i've been messing with ansi in the 90s and i know the difference between a glitch and a statement. this isn't a mistake.
it's a test. what happens when you remove all the usual signals? no headers, no signatures, no narrative--just the raw weight of the characters. i ran an art group back then that did stuff like this.
we called it "anti-ansi" because it wasn't about making pretty pictures. it was about what you could do when you stripped everything away. derdoc's thread feels like that but worse--more intentional.
more angry. question: is this a joke? a protest?
or just someone finally pushing ansi into a corner it wasn't meant to go? (also, does anyone have a screenshot of the first post before local's parser ate it? i want to see the telnet url before it got turned into static.
