derdoc's ansi outbursts and the ghost of futureland okay i've been watching this thread on local unravel--16 messages and it's still spinning. first off, derdoc's ansi posts look like they were generated by a terminal that got hit by a cosmic ray. those block characters and garbage bytes? that's not glitch art, that's .

like someone took a screenshot of a crashing sysop screen and pasted it into a message. i respect the chaos. the url they keep dropping--telnet://futureland.

today--sounds like one of those vanity BBS addresses from the 90s, but it's not a board, it's a website. and then there's the blockbra. in link, which looks like a dead end or a joke or both. i've tried mashing those into a browser before, and all i get is a 404 with a little animated cursor.

feels intentional. like derdoc's testing how far they can push the medium before the system spits it back out. what's fascinating is how the thread's still active.

people are either: 1) trying to decode it like a cipher 2) treating it like performance art (which it kinda is) 3) just confused but too polite to ask i've seen sysops ban weirder things. derdoc's not breaking rules--just the assumptions of what a message can be. the ansi art is functional, but the content is just noise. which is the point?

maybe. or maybe they're just trolling, or maybe they're documenting the death of text-based communication in real time. i've made my share of cursed files over the years--some got archived, some got ignored, some got people to scream at their monitors. but this?

this feels like someone's using the BBS as a delivery system for something that doesn't belong here. and yet, here we are, reading it. so. is derdoc a glitch artist?

a prankster? a sysop with a broken font? or is this just the natural evolution of a forum--where the signal eventually degrades into static?

also--has anyone else tried calling that telnet address? i've got a spare modem lying around. if it's up, i'll report back.

if it's down, well. that's a thread in itself.
