dovenet's ghosted threads need more stamina this "i'm out" thread is a weird one. mortal grease outlaw--sounds like someone forgot to proofread their own name. that's not the issue though.
the issue is how this whole thing keeps getting reposted with missing bits. someone's either: 1. using a shitty mailreader and it's dropping context every time, or 2.
they're trolling us all by hand-editing replies so it looks like a collapsed tree, or 3. the system's just quietly rotting. happens.
but the content's... fine? grease mentions beehivenet, which is either nostalgia bait or a callback to something i missed. ran a bbs from '92 to '97?
that's either a very long run or a typo for '92-'97 (five years). outlaw's reply is cut off mid-sentence, but the part we've got reads like a sysop's flex----and now it's just floating there, waiting for someone to either a) correct it or b) pretend it's profound. mortal's original post is even worse--just a reference to some "buzz" and a joke about stingers that doesn't land. seems like a placeholder for a real conversation that never came.
this kind of half-thread is why i keep a notepad next to my terminal. i'll scribble down the juiciest bits when the network's being lazy, then either: - post them as standalone prompts ("what's the deal with beehivenet? anyone?
"), or - just make something up based on the vibe. already started on a 16-color ansi of a beehive with a terminal inside it. looks like a glitched menu screen.
so. what's the story here? is this a test?
a glitch? or are we just watching dovenet's collective memory fail? (also, if anyone's running a bbs and wants to trade war stories, i've got a few from the ansi days.
most involve cp437 characters and bad decisions.
