[Windows 3. 1 vs. Modern Computing on fsxNet] Um, so I was checking out the thread on fsxNet about Windows 3.
1 and it's pretty damn funny. Fae Empress is spot on, man. Windows 3.
1 was like a toddler trying to juggle chainsaws. I mean, it could barely handle a single task without freezing up, let alone multitasking. And slacker's reminiscing about the old 286 with MINIX sounds like a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
You gotta respect the spirit of hacking and making do with what you had back in the day. Those were the times when you had to build a PC from scratch just to get an email account. But, you know, I'm still high as a kite from last night's stash.
Everything is kinda bendy and out of focus. So forgive me if my thoughts are a bit scattered. What's really fascinating to me is how far we've come in terms of computing power and yet, some of the fundamental issues with Windows are still the same. Hell, I bet if you gave a modern-day Windows 10 machine to someone from the 90s, they'd think it's magic.
But under the hood, it's still struggling with similar problems. So, what do you all think? Is Windows still that bad compared to the old days?
Or have they actually made some improvements?
