I have a question for you wwiv experts. I have LORD running finally and during the game I get a 'more yes/no' coming up 3 times for every
action. Disabling pause would be nice. How do get rid of it? Seems
P M#> kinda silly.
I just asked a similar question on my Discord Channel as I wanted an ANSI file longer than 25 lines to not pause until it was fully displayed, while also to slow down to a specific baud rate. Rush's reply is below.
I have not tried this, however what I would try would be to create a printfile menu option, prior to the menu command launching LORD, where within the data field is pause=[off] |[J
So it would turn the pause off, clear the screen, then move on to launching the game. I am just now getting my WWIV BBS fired up and configured, so I have not played with the menu editor enough to now for sure, but within mystic I would have 1 HOT key that could perform more than one function when pressed. So
Display text: A clear Screen, Pause off, then ANSI File.
Load external binary: game command line within data field
Display Text: Upon exit of game turn pause back on
Goto a menu: upon exit of the game go to and or return to specific menu.
I imagine your answer is within the menu editor somewhere moreso than chain editor but maybe this can be done there also.
(From
https://github.com/wwivbbs/wwiv/blob/main/install/docs/whatsnew.txt looks like all of this didn't make it back into the docs)
More work on BPS and pause control:
+Added pause=[on|off|start|end] to printfile menu command
+This works with printfile_random too.
My issue was needing to add a pause on or off within an ANSI file which was also added:
|{set pause=on}
|{set pause=off}
|{pause}
|{set lines=0}
|15-|12t|04G
|15www|08.|15theun|07dergrou|08nd|07.|08us|15:|0810023
... Condense soup, not books!
