You create a file in your /network /wwivnet directory called general.tag This creates a tag file for your BBS. I haven't figured out signatures

Weird, I could swear I had one.. is there a default maybe if the file isn't there?

Also I noticed all of my tag lines have the wierd Diamonds (like heart codes or something) that show up after the post is saved and then displayed, what could be causing that?

I think it's an FSED only issue. That or I'll have to see if a setting in SyncTerm is doing it. Appreciate you looking .. the diamond ANSI characters show up prior to the numbers you're referring to. Is it possible because the color is dark grey (pipe code 08?)

I came on here to make a vacuous remark about how dark grey (or intense black as I call it) seems to cause a few problems lately, given that I had to fix my terminal emulator to show it properly on WWIV.

However when I went in to quote the message, I saw diamonds! Not sure if these will show, I presume not as someone else seemed to be randomly quoting a tag line... but let's try again (apologies if I just quote a normal looking tagline!):

Yep, I'm seeing them too. It's not your eyes playing tricks on you. I think WWIV's FSED doesn't like dark grey pipe code 08 for one reason or another ?

The Diamond followed by a number is a control-code that WWIV puts on taglines. It uses this for the "Optional lines" display that you can set in D>efaults.
It's a legacy option. I'm not sure how many lines we allowed for taglines before, but it appears to have been 10 lines max.
