• Toob, what exactly are they, and any opinions?

We are about to get CityFibre availability, the fibre is installed
uner the road and presumably they are connecting and testing at the
    moment.

We have just been leafleted by Toob "full-fibre broadband in
partnership with CityFibre". The Toob post code checker just loops for
ever with a spinner when I enter our postcode.

However I'm a bit confused by Toob, are they an ISP or are they a
fibre provider? A&A say they are hoping to offer connections using
Toob which suggests that Toob are a company like CityFibre but on the
other hand the flyer we've got suggest that they are an ISP.

Can anyone clarify this for me please.

Also, are Toob any good as an ISP? I need a static IPV4 among other
things and will be moving our landline number (which currently is
PlusNet FTTC) to VOIP on the FTTP some time after it is up and
    running.

They are both a Fibre Provider and ISP. They have a partnership with
CityFibre and in areas where TOOB has no infrastructure, they use City
    Fibre.

Normally TOOB use CGNAT. A routable IP which will be fixed, will cost
    you -u8.00/month.

Toob are both an altnet (install their own fibre) and resell Cityfibre in locations they don't have their own.

No experience, but given you have the full range of CF ISPs I'd look at
which gives you the best price/service/etc rather than the one who sent you junk mail. Maybe that turns out to be Toob, who knows?

It seems from reading this through that some people are happy to suffer outages if the issue is resolved fairly quickly.

I have been with VM since its NTL dial-up days around Y2K (when I was a
beta tester) and in the intervening years have had only four or five
outages with only one of those lasting more than a day (inebriated
driver's car meets streetcab on the corner - phone back in 24hrs, but
B/B took four days albeit (could I even say unusually?) VM kept us
posted on progress by text messages.)

If you want to be a little more certain about whether or not you can get CityFibre try IDNetrCOs website.
My house has CF and my ISP is IDnet. I tried my postcode with ToobrCOs site
and they claim to offer service, so that would be with CF as there is no
other method of supply on our street. IDnet offer static IP, and a full
IPv6 subnet, but are more expensive than Toob.

OP here, yes IDnet are one of my front runners along with AandA and a
couple of others. AandA seem surprisingly competitive for CityFibre.

I use both A&A (FTTC) and IDnet (CF FTTP). In terms of service and knowledgeable tech support they are both equally good. IDnet are marginally cheaper for FTTP. Both are long established and independent ISPs. IDnet
also donrCOt have a usage cap, which AAISP do on their cheaper tariff. But IrCOve never managed to get anywhere near that.
