    Can't load the BBC website or even ping it in the early hours. Other
    internet connections seem fine. Anyone else seeing this?

    Call me old fashioned, but if you had to take a widely used and popular website down for 20-30 mins to perform some maintenance, what time would
    you select to perform the task to minimise the number of people affected ?

    Yes, that does seem to have been it, but usually there is some sort of
    message displayed, not an endless wait that neither displays the
    webpage, or a 'site down' alternative, but neither gives a 404.

    5 am on a Sunday?

    Surely there are fewer likely users then than there might be between
    02:00 and 03:00 during the rest of the week?
