    I'm presuming this was just a sync. pulse, i. e. to keep the clocks on
    time; I can't imagine they actually had _coding_ in 1912. (Though I
    could be wrong; engineers of that time were very ingenious, sometimes
    seeming more so than their counterparts of today!)
