  • Whats causing all the blocking highs over the UK?

    It seems to be one following another this spring with - if we're lucky - a rainy interlude for a day or 2 before another one comes along. Is the jet stream being particularly sluggish?

    There is a quasi-stable state for "our" Jetstream when it gets locked
    into IIRC a 5-lobe state, locked in position by the Rockies, Alps,
    Himalayas etc intruding close to its space, until some external
    disturbance is large enough to unblock it.

    Interesting. Well lets hope something unblocks it soon, the garden is looking very dry despite watering.
