Interesting! Apparently the new pope has officially confirmed that Mary,
the mother Jesus, played no part in saving the world. He has called on Catholics to stop using the title "Co-redemtrix", on the basis that
Jesus did everything on the cross and Mary had no part in that.

I hope he will go on to reject the title "Mediatrix" whic is also
bestowed on Mary and which I believe is similarly inappropriate, for 1
Timothy 2:5-astates: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God
and men, the man Christ Jesus."

    God bless,

I was reading about this the other day and they do apear to have
    slightly shifted position on that

"In addition to rCLCo-Redemptrix,rCY the document also addressed at length
the Marian title rCLMediatrixrCY or rCLMediatrix of All Graces,rCY analyzing related Church teaching on MaryrCOs role as intercessor.

The DDF concluded that rCLsome titles, such as rCyMediatrix of All Graces,rCO have limits that do not favor a correct understanding of MaryrCOs unique place.rCY

The dicastery encouraged the use of other expressions for Mary,
specifically titles referring to her motherhood, including rCLMother of
GodrCY and rCLMother of the Faithful People of God.rCY"

However I don't like the title Mother of God. She gave birth to the
human Jesus, and is his Mother, which in my opinion is as far as it goes.

That she is blessed amongst Christians goes without saying, as per
    Elizabeth in Luke 1:39-45

The point of the Theotokos title is the doctrine that the human and
divine nature of Christ are inextricably linked. Jesus is God-man and
even in the womb or at birth, He still remained fully divine.

I don't have a problem with the idea, except to say that it is slightly presumptuous for us humans to pontificate on such matters. How on earth
can we know the exact mechanics of the incarnation? All we can know with certainty is what God has revealed in the Scriptures - and the Bible is
    silent on such arcana.
