    " Good day

    Thank you for your email.

An appointment has been booked for you to see the technician at
Lauriston Building on 12/03/2026 at 11:45.

Do you still have the hearing aids? If so, please bring them with to the appointment.

There is no cost for repairing or replacing hearing aids.

    Kind regards

I had intimated that I was willing to pay to have them replaced, I think that's why they put the line :-
"There is no cost for repairing or replacing hearing aids".

Mind you there are no prescription charges in Scotland so maybe it's something like that.

    Got to disagree .
More middle of the market not terribly high end but certainly not cheap
    crap.
My aids are (were) Phonak, could bluetooth with my phone etc etc.
yes they are of the behind the ear type and are that horrible
pinky-beige (not ideal). But they are fairly unobtrusive not invisible
you can see them if you look but they do not leap out like "normal" earbuds.

Great for listening to podcast/stories on Y ouTube whilst at work ;O)

It's a few years since I lost one of mine. they (specsavers via nhs) have replaced them FOC twice, but each time interrogation as to when I last lost them, I think they reserverthe right to charge if lost too often.

-a Mind you there are no prescription charges in Scotland so maybe it's something like that.

There are no prescription charges here in Wales - but SWMBO was informed
that there would be a charge (maybe 50 squid, but it might be more) for
    each one she lost.
Charges might vary from country to country - or even from one area
    Health Authority to the next.

My hearing aids are GN (Great Northern) AKA Great
Northern Northern Telegraph (GNT) or Stor Nordisk Telegraf. A
Danish company. Denmark was where the first hearing aids were
    developed.

There are several Danish hearing aid manufaturers, Oticon
has been in the hearing aid business since 1904.

Phonak is Swiss and well respected.

My GN aids do Bluetooth, inductive loop, as well as normal
behind the ear use. With bluetooth I can listen to podcasts from
    my smartphone.

Their phone app needs some work though.

It answered then silently dropped some calls.
