• Today I rode a motorcycle

    From Pete Fisher@no_email@invalid.invalid to uk.rec.motorcycles on Sun Feb 22 18:42:40 2026

Today I rode motorcycle. The Honda CN250RS after fitting new brake
pads to go with the new disk. Only 20 miles, but my was it good to be
back on a bike. The 'stick in the wheel' effect caused by the pothole
incident has been cured, but the brake is still a bit wooden and
lacking in power compared with Morini. I wish I could find more
cranked or adjustable lever to make it bite later, so more grip.

Then I watched the last rays of the sun on our 'sunset bench' which
now sits on a small gravel/'porcelain' slabs terrace. The clouds were
tinged with salmon pink and a blackbird sang in the gloaming. Crescent
moon overhead. A hypericum and penstemon moved to make the terrace
replanted in the front garden. A GOOD day.

    LOL

But good to hear _someone_ is doing their part!

It's still rather wintery here, about -5 C with a bit of snow on
    the ground.

It was over +10 C last weekend, it felt pretty spring-like but I
didn't manage to ride, ho hum.

I took the Daytona out this afternoon. Where the hell did all these
    potholes come from?

Crap quality resurfacing, freezing weather then loads of rain. The huge
ones I encountered coming down in to Bridgnorth today did at least have
white lines painted round them. Glad it was daylight and I could
    negotiate them like a chicane.

    A wee sugestion maybe?
I have found that on "some" of my older bikes, fitting a slightly smaller master
cylinder has given me much better feel with the wooden brakes?
Not sure if it's even possible with your beast, but I've managed to find a way for most.
A smaller master gives slightly less pressure withe the pull, but the squeeze then gives a much better feedback.

Indeed. That's why many Morinisti fit a 250 master cylinder on a 350.
I shall research it. I note that there is a CB250RS Facebook Group.
