For those not on FB.
I've been on a bit of a roll recently working through servicing/improving/fixing my hoard^H^H^H^H collection of motorbikes.
Today I finally got around to looking at the Beeza I've owned since 1976.
Around 5 years ago it got a bit of a revamp, I rode it brifely but it
wasn't running right and began a horrible death rattle. (See video in
the link). I put it on the ramp where I'm slightly embarassed to admit
it stayed there until a few weeks ago.
I took the head off and found that one of the pistons has been hitting something, almost certainly a valve. My guess was it was caused by
either big or little end.
I removed the barrels and quickly found the big end's gone.
Dangit, full strip down required.
I suspect oil starvation, probably from blocked sludge trap/lack of use.
It's a whole lot easier to work on than a modern bike for sure.
