Wonderful old documentary on the bike scene in Oz in 1968.

    At least I thought so.

I dipped in along several points

    Points to note:

plenty of Austin 1100 about, the first car I drove in 1974 aged 11 on
    Pendine Sands

they were drinking brown beer not that awful yellow piss they market over
here as Fosters and Castelmaine XXXX. When did they lose their way with
    ale?

    I hate the word bikie

the race circuit looked like a proper goat track

I owned the basic 2-door, little more than an overgrown Mini, though
rather less frantic at motorway(ish) speeds. My third car.

the race circuit looked like a proper goat track

    And years before Rossi.

A long hile before that, I thought. I first experience Aussie beer on
ships from 1976 onwards and it was all pretty awful. There was Carlton
lager and Victoria Bitter (being one of the most common, indeed it's
still apparently Aus's best-sellng beer). It was impossible to tell
the two apart. Even the colour was the same, which confused me at the
    time.

But VB is not an ale. It's a lager. It was a lager in 1976 when I
first encountered it. It was a lager when it was first produced in
1854. So someone, at least, had already lost their way before that
    point.

    I did too.
Not exactly a huge advert for Australian dentistry though :-)
