Hydrogen vehicles have always been a non-starter because of
    infrastructure issues.

"The hydrogen buses have been out action since September 2024, due to
problems with fuelling stations at Kittybrewster and Cove."

A bit like Cambridge's LPG taxis a generation ago. If you can't find
somewhere to refuel them, they are a liability.

15 years ago Islamabad had dual fuel taxis, and possibly other vehicles.
It was forbidden to drive on petrol or diesel some days to reduce
pollution[1]. When I was there we wanted to go a hilltop viewpoint in a
small taxi, 4 adults plus the driver. The driver apologised and said he couldnrCOt reach it on Tuesdays[2] because he was using LPG.

The LPG tanks also reduced the boot space of taxis considerably, so
passengers ended up with bags and cases on their knees.

[1] Pakistani lorries emissions had to be seen to be believed!
[2] Or whatever day it was.

Yes, that was also a problem with the Cambridge taxis (Camtax, not to be confused with Tampax) in the 70's).

There were similar problems when a batch of hydrogen buses was obtained
to operate bus services between St. Helens and Liverpool. Apart from a
few trial runs, they were hardly used, and are now being converted to
    battery operation.

Providing fuelling facilities proved to be too difficult (or expensive).
And hydrogen molecules are very small and can easily "escape" from
containment vessels if there is just a tiny "flaw" that would not be
    noticed by "hydrocarbon" fuels.

Yes, I donrCOt think the problem is limited to one country or region!
