Ah'ernoon from a cool, dry, slightly blustery, clear, bright and
sunny. We've had wall to wall blue, cloudless sky above us since dawn. Temperature out there is 6.1C, but more like 3C with the, up to 25 mph
cooling winds from the WSW. Barometric pressure is climbing again at
1003.1 mB with the RH showing as 69%. Forecast is for it to remain dry
with clear skies throughout the day and up until around midnight, when
cloud begins to drift across. Temperature will peak at 7C, more like 4C
in the early afternoon and then fall to an overnight low of 1C, more
like -3C just after midnight. Enjoy your day everyone and stay safe and sound.
Mollie seems to be settling in quite well, but I'm sure she isn't a "real" cat. Still, no interest in what is going on around her, and
shows no real curiosity at all. She comes and gives me a solitary,
quiet meow, to say she has just used her litter tray and I've to go and
clean it out. She also very quietly tells me that she'd like some food,
and will play a little and give me a few cuddles. But then she just
lays or sits there with an almost vacant expression in her eyes. After breakfast this morning she wandered back into the lounge, and
climbed/jumped up on to the sofa for a snooze. It took her almost half
a minute to make the decision. Then she settled and just looked into
the distance at nothing in particular. I'm also wondering why she
completely ignores her name. Perhaps she's a little deaf. Can cat's sometimes suffer from some form of dementia I wonder?

yes, I would say our George definitely did, but he actually tended to look miserable at the end rather than vacant ( but he did still love a cuddle). He also was pooing and weeing anywhere he thought suitable - which wasn't always his litter tray, and had just about given up grooming.

She certainly might be a little deaf. You will also sound different to whomever
looked after her before. And the getting on the sofa? It's a new place, "Can I
make it, I am not as young as I was..."

But a cat that is telling you to clean her tray and feed her, seems like she has
decided you are a good servant.

Been to visit one of my daughters this weekend and she has twin cats, one called
Mollie, the other Tabitha. They are 15 and she can see them ageing. Tabitha is
walking slowly up the stairs rather than running for example.

I must have been lucky with other ageing cats then. Sootie was 19+ and

George lasted to 17 and the last year or so he would try to leap up to some places and miss, but Millie was 18 and still could. Cats like humans vary.:-) --

Tell me about it Smokey !
Brief summary. Following her annual 'flu jab and health check on 4th
December, Sootie (1(years) had dental surgery on Friday 13th. After
week's treatment, and u2,500's vet's bills, unfortunately she had to
be Euthanased on Saturday 21st December 2024. Then about a week ago I
adopted 14 year old 'Mollie' from the cat shelter. http://www.roseofwhite.plus.com/P1010046.JPG
she is very timid and introvert so far but is gradually improving with
time. Apparently her lady owner died last year and Mollie arrived at
the 'Shelter' on 20th December 2024. Her DoB is quoted as 1st March
    2011.

Thanks Smokey, it's looking good so far although she does seem to be
older than Sootie. I suppose that will mostly depend on her 13 years
history rather than her real age,
