• Taxi fare

I've been wondering what it might be. Doesn't help of course us not
knowing what part of Scotland the castle (stables) is in; for the taxi
option to be _possible_, I _presume_ somewhere in the south-west of
    Scotland.

(I also have no idea what taxi fares are like these days. I think fuel
alone works out at about 15-20p a mile, but of course taking tax,
insurance, and maintenance into account, even break-even is likely to be
a lot more than that, before time and profit are considered. [I doubt it
    would be an electric vehicle.])

Our thorny national debate about Brexit could turn out to be irrelevant.
Sooner or later the EU as we know it may no longer be there for us to
leave. - Katya Adler, BBC Europe editor (RT, 2017/2/4-10)

No problem - Jacob is a vet, he could pay it 10 times over with his
    small change.

I suppose that's true. (Although the coverage of vet's charges that's
been in the media in the last few years has been mostly small-animal
practices, whereas I think Jacob's is at least half large animals rather
than pets, but he's still probably fairly OK.) I was just wondering, on
a curiosity level, what sort of figure we _are_ talking about. (And for
that matter, what distance - "Scotland" to Blackpool.) Not sure how long
it took: I _think_ they were talking as if it was morning at the castle, possibly even still dark; not sure when Kate go to the hospital, though.

A biochemist walks into a student bar and says to the barman: "I'd like
a pint of adenosine triphosphate, please." "Certainly," says the barman, "that'll be ATP." (Quoted in) The Independent, 2013-7-13

Do vets make much money these days?
I thought the big bucks all went to the MegaCorps who swallowed up the independent vet practices, and now employ vets on a salary?

I suspect it is much the same for Pharmacies.
