I've been dusting off my crystal ball... it's still a bit dim but I'm confidently announcing that once the sexy shepherd realises who it was
that saved his last lost sheep, he will promptly ditch scary Helen and
rescue poor downtrodden Leonie from horrid James. Helen will be furious
and I for one cannot wait.

If on the other hand he sticks with Helen he deserves all he's going to
get, even if he is Mark Bonnar.

(Other than just not being there - which I agree is not good - has James
    done anything horrid recently?)>

I'm obviously in a minority in quite liking Hellen. But AIAOU?

He might find the pull of his own flock will take him back a wiser man.

I have to say that he was the best speaking crofter imaginable. Are we
sure he is not the Laird of the Manor masquerading as a crofter?

It could be a localised version of Napoleon's:
"Every soldier carries a Marshal's baton in his knapsack."

    Aspiring to be upwardly mobile.

There was reference to him having spent time working for an architect's practice. I suspect Mark Bonnar is not available for a longer booking
as he seems pretty busy elsewhere (just about any TV series made in
Scotland appears to employ him), however he strikes me as infinitely preferable to Dane.
