Afternoon Play, today, at 3pm in the Secrets and Lies series is
    Shirley's Party by Katie Hims.

An interesting topic. Has her playwriting informed her scriptwriting
    or vice versa? ITWSBT

That's a shame. I was out at the time of broadcast so I've downloaded
it for later. Meanwhile, the Telegraph has called it "The Finest Radio
    Drama of the Year."

    Drama: ShirleyAs Party
    Radio 4/BBC Sounds, 3pm
    ThereAs an extraordinary humanity to
this beautifully judged play about a
    wife and mother (Rachel Davies)
    emerging slowly, tentatively into the
light after a lifetime in the shadow
of a controlling husband. Writer Katie
Hims cements her reputation as one of
the best radio dramatists out there,
helped by a superb cast that includes
    Alan Williams, Ralph Ineson, Christine
    Bottomley and, briefly, Philip Jackson.
Possibly the finest radio drama of the
year, certainly one of the warmest and
    most uplifting.

Each to his/her own I suppose, IrCOm becoming very disenchanted with R4rCOs drama slots; they have not only reduced them in length and frequency, so
much of it when rCygoodrCO is only so IMNSHO because they are repeats! The new material is generally a very poor imitation of the works they used to commission and produce a few years ago. Then there is the Monday afternoon spot, which is now repeats of 18:30 comedy slots FGS! Disappointed Toodles.

I can't disagree with you there. With Radio 4, the "Limelight" branding might as well be spelled "don't go anywhere near this work written by teenagers for other teenagers." Not that I have anything against teenagers mind...

Radio 4x often has some real blasts from the past. Last week there was a lot of archive Richard Burton including Treason, by Sanders Lewis which was first broadcast in the late 1950s. It's the sort of thing which, even if it's not much good (and I don't know because I haven't heard it yet) I find fascinating for the way the production techniques seem so different from the present day.

I thought it might have just been me, (the Limelight series) I find those totally impenetrable, as you say for teenagers only. The use of rCytextingrCO slang terms, hurried half mobile phone conversations, half sentences and mumbling of teenager-style talk leaves me right out of the story!
