Did we know Oliver's age and birthday before last week? I remember
some speculation in the past about how much older than Caroline he was
but I don't remember the conclusion.

Anyway, now we do. Sort of. There was a conversation last week
involving Oliver Sterling, an eightieth birthday and a glass of nice
whisky. Unfortunately I can't remember when the conversation occurred
nor when the said birthday was due to take place. Perhaps someone more Eagle-eared[1] can remember?

    Nick
[1]Eagle-eyed hardly works for a radio show; bat-eared sounds
    derogatory. Owl-eared perhaps? Suggestions?

Saturday, but since he is jetting off the the big Apple (not part of the
Cider Orchard) Tracy is trying to get some of his (and Caroline's)
foster childrento Ambridge before he goes. Presumably Carly.

Will she reveal that he used to lock her in the coal cellar?

That certainly describes this particular corner of the umra
demographic but sadly not in the acute hearing sense.

Birthday is on Saturday and it is 80 implying birth in 1945. We have
never previously had this information so far as I am aware - despite his
    long residence in the village.

Caroline was born in 1955 so some ten years younger which tends to
    accord with our beliefs.

Why are his partners still expecting a full day's work out of Oliver at 80?

Some people want to work as long as they can. My most recently departed
Mike worked until about two months before his death. He had cancer and
was often unwell, but still wanted to work. He owned his business, as
does Oliver. That may have something to do with it. Mike thought the
rest home was the best thing he'd done in his entire life.
