• TOT tracking packages

Since the beginning of the year I have received 3 packages sent via
different carriers with tracking information. All three had been
delivered before I got an email saying they would be delivered the next
    day or the day afterwards:)

Even RM, where they usually send the delivery email saying delivery
today but often actually deliver a few days later, delivered it two days before the "delivery today" email was received. In this case the "24"
package took less than 24 hours in their system.

Emails were not delayed as the headers indicated that they were sent
    very shortly before being received.

Luckily all the packages were letter box size so no problem second
guessing when they would be delivered.

I'm seeing this more and more often. Pessimistic delivery estimates not
just when placing the order, but in the first tracking-data.

Meanwhile stuff seems to arrive much sooner. Apart from yesterday's
Tesco groceries, which were nearly three hours late.

I have seen the same thing. You would think that an early delivery was
good, except I plan my day, including being away from home, using their information. I then come home and find that they tried to deliver, but couldn't, and it took 2 more days before they tried again, so in fact
delivery was not as fast as it should have been the first time.

Not much use for @Roland's Tesco delivery but wherever available I use
the click and collect option[1] and pick the item(s) up in my own
    time.

    Nick
[1]Even to the extent that if I have a choice of suppliers and a
minimal price difference, I will choose the slightly more expensive
option if it includes click and collect
