Hmm. Been down some time then!

I am surprised that it lasted this long, in the face of google maps

Yes, it's been down since maybe Saturday or Sunday (I've forgotten when
it last worked for me) so it looks as if it dead. There is a thread on
financial forum The Lemon Fool about it, and several alternatives have
been suggested for viewing OS maps:

    https://www.sysmaps.co.uk/sysmaps_os.html
    https://maps.the-hug.net/
    https://wtp2.appspot.com/wheresthepath.htm

Would you believe that in the last couple of days, >https://www.streetmap.co.uk/ has started working again, without any >explanation for the outage. I wonder how long it will carry on working?

It's good because I have a document which uses a number of Streetmap
URLs with arrows that point to specific locations on OS maps, and I was >trying to work out how to make any of the substitute sites point to >arrow-marked places.

I think they were appealing for finance support after one of their
advertisers stopped using them, it seemed IIRC quite a bit they were
    trying to raise..

I've just come across this website where streetmap.co.uk was appealing
for crowd funding, explaining why it went off line. They have achieved
their u16,000 target so that's probably why they are online again. As
you can see, it's owned by one woman, not a wealthy corporation. https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/streetmapcouk

Curiously, the Geographers' A-Z street map of London was created by one
    woman:
https://aboutlondonlaura.com/london-a-z-street-atlas-historical-edition/ Something about husbands refusing to ask the way, I suppose...
