• xOS26 wired accessories bug?

Anyone else on xOS26 (iPhone and/or iPad) noticed that the privacy setting
for Wired Accessories is stuck on rCyAlways AllowrCO, and greyed out with a message rCythis device is managed by your organisationrCO underneath?

It seems to a common thing, and I suspect many may not have even noticed
it, as plugging in usb devices just works.

For some turning on Lockdown mode has enabled it, but usually only while in Lockdown mode, it reverts when turning off.

IrCOve got this on both iPhone and iPad, but not sure exactly when it
occurred, could have been since 26.0, or 26.0.1.

I think this is probably a bug, as it affects two different devices at the
same time, and is the only setting affected.

In any case, it could be a heads-up here for anyone thatrCOs not noticed it yet.

Not here on my 17 Pro, it says "Automatically allow when unlocked".

It sounds like at some point your devices have been managed or
supervised. Even if the device is properly "unenrolled" (which removes
the management profile) there can be some leftovers in the system which
    are very hard to remove.

Just tried to reproduce Andy's problem on my iPad Mini 5 running 26.0.1 and
am not seeing this issue at all.

That was a consideration. However, IrCOm very certain of the source and
    history of both devices.

I bought the iPhone 12 from GiffGaff refurbished store, four years ago. I suspect it was probably a boxed return item, as it came with 0 battery
cycles at 100% life, and still had 11 months Apple warranty showing.

The iPad I originally bought new and sealed from John Lewis. It was
recently replaced by Apple under AppleCare cover, and is a brand new device (manufacture date early this year - which surprised me for sure).

Both have only ever been setup by me, and havenrCOt shown this symptom until now.

There are conversations on Reddit and Apple discussions about this. The
only advice is to nuke it and do a full delete/reset. Restoring from
backups apparently brings the error back.

IrCOm just trying to avoid that if possible (if it is a bug, then itrCOs unlikely to be a permanent fix I would expect). I really donrCOt want to
reset my Apple Pay, iCloud syncs, and rebuild by 65,000 strong photo
library on them. I expect IrCOll probably just have to do that though.

I was also just giving a bit of a heads up, in case anyone else had the
    issue, and hadnrCOt spotted it.

    Cheers.

That sounds exactly like a leftover bit of enrollment. Backup/restore
will preserve the leftovers and the only fix is to factory reset.

Actually if you setup a phone via a device-to-device transfer, any
leftovers on the old phone don't get transferred either.

I can't explain the iPad, but it sounds quite possible that your iPhone
was refurbed after being briefly managed. Even if it said 0 cycles.

Strange that this has only happened recently though, IrCOve owned the phone four years, and it had only been about three weeks into activation.

As I say, the iPad is a new replacement, two months old.

It seems to have happened simultaneously, probably, as I didnrCOt really
notice this until a couple weeks ago. I had been getting new usb device approval requests in the past though. I just canrCOt place when they stopped.

    ItrCOs certainly a weird one.
