trick, but I just ended up with a completely empty mail account (I got it back
quickly enough after resetting the server details).

There is a really handy tool for this, called imapsync. Maybe your new provider is aware of it; mine recommended it and had it available on their server.
I'm back again moving another bunch of mailboxes.
imapsync is like software from another age, when a person made it, and then
you gave them money for it, and then you owned it.
The website just adds to the aura of nostalgia.
