A heads up to let people know that Crucial are discontinuing their consumer branch from next month, so if you want to get your hands on any of their RAM or SSDs, get in quick.

OT? You mean off-topic? I suppose it is, but although IrCOve been away from u.c.s.m for a while, I do know lots of people here recommend and use Crucial, and it was where I first learned about them.

RAM and increasingly now SSD prices are massively inflated due to the AI bubble. Unless you urgently need more RAM or SSD I would not be keen to buy
    at inflated prices.

As with any stock market, prices may go up as well as down, and you have to decide what is the new normal and when to jump in. But just because one
brand is exiting the market should not be a reason to 'get in quick' -
others will be along to take their place.

For older Macs with upgradeable RAM, the used market is likely to be a good source of RAM - lots of old Intel Macs being scrapped now, and AI
datacentres aren't great users of DDR3 SODIMMs so the prices aren't likely
    to be as bad.

It's a bit sad. Crucial was our friend for many years!

On the other hand, when was the last time Apple let me upgrade anything?

A long while ago. But Crucial still sell external SSDs and other stuff.

Lodder was guessing but he guessed wrong.

Your problems here are also with your command of the English language,
which lacks the understanding that the word 'obergruppenfuehrer'
    can be used figuratively.

This is not about who you are, or where you are from.
It is about your often unpleasant behaviour here,
