• .pdf Reader/Annotater for iPad

What recommendations for a decent .pdf reader for the iPad? Since the latest release of iPadOS it seems that .pdf files are viewed using the ghastly Preview by default. There must, surely, be a better app for this, yet all the ones IrCOve looked at, although listed as rCyfreerCO with rCyin-app purchasesrCO are in reality subscription-based.

What are you all using? Or are you happy with Preview?

On the Mac, yes, itrCOs fine. On the Mac PDF Expert is even better. But on the iPad?

I've found some issues with Preview, but overall it works fine for reading
    and annotating.

An alternative is the Notes app as it also allows annotations.

I do not know PDF Expert but I never felt the need to replace Preview.
The integration into the the OS is perfect and AFAIK it never had a
    relevant security issue.

iPad? This is a Mac group.

Thanks. IrCOve now found that you can run PDF Expert in the iPad for free. It only has the bare minimum feature list unless you pay, but IrCOm not interested in using their AI to improve my PDF experience, thanks all the same.

What is it you don't like in Preview that PDF Expert is better for?

    A few things:

    1. In PDF Expert you can bookmark pages.

    2. In PDF Expert, if you make an annotation and then scroll away, it gives you the easy opportunity to snap back to where you were, so that if you want to check a footnote or reference itrCOs easy to find your way back.

    3. Preview crashes (for me, at any rate) if I scroll to the bottom of very, very long documents.

    4. Annotations made using Preview canrCOt be edited on the Mac.

    5. I hate that stupid launch screen, which looks as though thererCOs an important message hidden behind the main panel: rCLHererCOs to the... The round... Differently...rCY

    on the other hand

    1. Preview does use the Apple pop-up menu when I squeeze the Apple Pencil. Very important in drawing programs, but less so when annotating. Still, consistency would be nice.

    2. While the free version of PDF Expert is perfectly adequate for my needs, itrCOs not clear which features are part of the paid version, so selecting something which might be useful often causes a pop-up to tell me I ought to subscribe. -u40 a year is ridiculous.
