My take is that the researchers are misinterpreting their results. They
claim chicks associated rounded verbal sounds with rounded figures, and
sharp sounds with pointy figures like humans do.
The problem is that kiki is closer to a hen's call to attract the chicks
to food that she has found, and the hen has a more rolling coo when she
is taking in the chicks to warm them up and brood them. The star may
look more like food and the rounded figure may look more like mother.
