A veteran state lawmaker wants to force
public schools that teach evolution to also
teach rCLintelligent design," which its sponsor
admits is just another word for rCLcreationism."

Sen. David Farnsworth said this is an idea
proposed by one of his constituents and he
promised to introduce the proposal for
discussion in the 2026 legislative session.

rCLIf werCOre going to teach that man came from

This is the type of dishonest IDiots that are still left supporting the
ID scam. Just like MarkE they are only doing it for religious reasons.
This guy even understands that it is just a scam to get creationism into
the public schools, but he is OK with that. He is just like the West
Virginia legislator that had the bait and switch run on her and still
claimed that the switch scam would allow ID to be taught in the public
schools after being forced to remove mentioning ID from the legislation
and replace it with switch scam language. The saddest aspect of the
current ID scam and IDiots that still support the scam is that they do
not even want the ID perps to succeed in producing any valid ID science because it would just be more science to deny. MarkE understands that
the designer that fills the origin of life gap is not the designer
described in the Bible. So would this rube legislator if he understood
what the ID perps were selling.

The flat earth church was based in Arizona (it might still be there).
When I was a graduate student in Utah in the 1980's we would get the
Arizona religious news because there was a large Mormon contingent in
Arizona. It was during the governor Mecham fiasco. You had the
President of the flat earth church claiming that the space shuttle never really orbited around the earth, but it just went around the surface
like the needle on a record player except the record wasn't moving, but
the needle was. They were likely flat earth geocentrists. The Arizona creationists wanted to teach creationism in the Arizona public schools,
and were trying to ban teaching evolution if creationism could not be
taught. Mecham's appointed secretary of education was the boob that
claimed that globes should be removed from the public school classroom
because they conflicted with the religious beliefs of Arizona
constituents as justification for the stupid and dishonest attempts
against biological evolution. These guys likely understand how little
their creationist Biblical beliefs reflect what actually exists in
nature, but they do not care.

Arizona last wanted to teach intelligent design in their public schools
back in 2018. They ended up trying to remove biological evolution from
their public school science standards, but their revised standards were
not accepted and biological evolution remained in the standards.

    https://www.12news.com/article/news/education/in-arizona-teaching-creationism-is-supported-by-4-of-5-republicans-who-want-to-oversee-education/75-558469431

    QUOTE:
The Arizona Department of Education is updating science standards for
K-12 schools for the first time in about 15 years.

Teachers who worked on the standards told 12 News they were shocked when
the words "evolution" and "evolve" were crossed out of their draft.

The deletions apparently had the approval of Republican School
Superintendent Diane Douglas, who runs the Department of Education. She supports the teaching of intelligent design - a rebranding of
creationism, which is the religious belief in the existence of a creator.
    END QUOTE:

The article notes that 4 of 5 republican candidates for school
superintendent (including the winner) supported teaching intelligent
    design in the public schools.

    The superintendent is quoted:
"Should the theory of intelligent design be taught along with the theory
    of evolution? Absolutely."

Arizonans have been dishonest about the ID scam for quite some time.
This news article notes that the superintendent was actually supporting teaching creationism in the Arizona schools. By 2018 there probably
were not very many people that remained ignorant of what the ID
creationist scam was. Back in 2013 when Louisiana had to have the bait
and switch run on them again for their attempts to teach ID in their
public schools they called what they wanted to teach both intelligent
design and creationism. Like Texas they were not "requiring" ID to be
taught, just allowing teaching the junk if the teacher wanted to do so,
but the ID perps ran the bait and switch on them anyway.
